What is GoodNeighbour? Why we started our second-hand clothing community... Hi, we are Hannah and Kate (two sisters). We started selling our unworn & unloved closets as a way of affordably & ethically refreshing our wardrobes. The more markets we attended and Op Shops & vintage stores we browsed the more frustrated we became. As both sellers & shoppers we could see how many people were turning away from the second-hand market and opting for fast-fashion alternatives. As second-hand shoppers we often see pieces from Shein sold for twice the price and as sellers we were often walking away tired and disappointed. After factoring in tickets, parking, and the early morning coffee (not to mention the hidden cost of labour to set up, pack down and man our stalls), we usually have barely broken even. We believe selling your unwanted clothes should be easier (and more economical!). GoodNeighbour’s main objective is to foster cooperation between buyers and sellers to form a true community of good neighbours, where fashion lovers can rediscover the thrill of the thrift. GoodNeighbour is not a get-rich-quick scheme, a side hustle or a full-time job. We know its rough out there, and can relate when your favourite pair of jeans are too small, or too big and then too small again... A little bit of pocket money towards the perfect pair goes a long way, and what's even better is giving a much needed boost back to the circular fashion economy. Our plan is to keep our expenses low, to make selling for everyday guys and gals and non-binary pals worthwhile and make thrifting fun again! Our marketplace is the place for you if you; Want to sell your own, friends or family’s personal closet. Are interested in trading or swapping for items over traditional cash-in-hand. Prefer to shop second hand and reduce your impact on the world. You want to support the circular fashion economy and like when prices are consistent & reasonable. Would like to drink a vino while you try on those hot second hand boots.
Stall Holder Guidelines 1. Please price items fairly. As a guide, most second-hand/used items should be at LEAST 50% off the RRP. This also relates to items that are unused or unworn or BNWT. See our pricing guide for examples. 2. While we prefer our stall holders to sell items that once lived in their personal closet, we are happy to host Vintage and Preloved small businesses that are willing to follow our pricing guidelines. Please reach out via email prior to purchasing tickets. 3. All equipment and unsold items must be taken with you at the end of the event, unless you use our donation bins provided. 4. Please be gracious and clean up scraps and rubbish! 5. Bring a float for change and have your EFT details handy. 6. Hold your fellow-sellers accountable. Kindly & respectfully inform others if they are violating our agreement & reach out to us if you see or experience price-gouging. 7. Trading & swapping is encouraged! 8. We are sorry to say tickets cannot be refunded at this time. 9. Remember to promote your stall to family & friends! 10. Above all bring your community spirit!
Shopper Guidelines 1. We care about tackling overconsumption. With this in mind, please avoid buying in bulk and be mindful when shopping. 2. No excessive haggling. The intention of our community is to set reasonable prices from the outset. Offers are okay towards the end of the event. 3. Remember your tote bag! There is no guarantee sellers will have them. 4. Please take all rubbish with you. 5. Share your experience! The more the merrier!
